Компания SUN выпустила очередную версию программы VirtualBox. Как и в предыдущих выпусках, в этом исправлено множество разнообразных ошибок:

- USB: fixed support for iPhone and Nokia devices.
- Windows host installer: added proper handling of open VirtualBox applications when updating the installation.
- Windows host installer: fixed default installation directory on 64-bit on new installations.

- Linux/Solaris/Darwin hosts: verify permissions in /tmp/vbox-$USER-ipc.

- Solaris hosts: fixed incompatibility between IPSEC and host interface networking.

- Windows additions: fixed logged in users reporting via guest properties when using native RDP connections.
- Windows additions: fixed Vista crashes when accessing shared folders under certain circumstances.
- Linux additions: fixed compilation of vboxvfs.ko for 64-bit guests.
- SDK: added JAX-WS port caching to speedup connections.
VirtualBox – это программа для создания виртуальный машин. Путем выделения ресурсов компьютера создает отдельную виртуальную систему с собственными ресурсами, и, что самое главное, с собственной операционной системой. К примеру, на компьютере с операционной системой Windows вы в два счета можете создать виртуальную систему, под которую выделите определенные ресурсы и установите Linux. Или, наоборот, на компьютер, работающий под управлением Linux установить Windows. Программа поддерживает установку операционной системы либо с диска, либо из файла-образа. Все очень просто и не вызовет серьезных трудностей даже у начинающего пользователя. Остается добавить, что программа абсолютно бесплатна и распространяется на основе открытых исходных кодов.
В качестве главной операционной системы VirtualBox поддерживает Windows, Linux, Mac OS и Solaris. В роли же виртуальной системы могут выступать практически все популярные операционные системы.
